Commissioning your portrait, step by step.

Pet Portrait Process

Step 1: Image Reference

To create the best pet portrait, a clear and in focus photograph of your pet is preferable. High-quality images are best as they enable me to accurately capture your pet's personality, detail and character. Please choose a photo that truly represents your pet well, one that you would naturally consider as a great depiction of them.

What if I don't have good quality images, can I still commission a portrait? Yes! If you don't have suitable reference images, if for example, you are commissioning a portrait of a pet who has passed away, I may be able to compile multiple images together for the one portrait.

I may also be able to photograph your pet for you depending on your location. If you reside locally on the Surf Coast I can personally capture photos of your pet for the portrait.

Step 2: Deposit

Once I have checked the photographs and we agree on your requirements and delivery schedule I will ask for a 25%, non-refundable deposit of the agreed price.

Step 3: Preliminary Sketch

Next, I will produce a visual 'Mock-Up' using your photos and sketch the initial outline of the pet portrait. Before proceeding with the final artwork, I will share the preliminary sketch proof for your approval. This collaborative process ensures that the composition meets your expectations. Please note that once the proof is approved and work on the final piece has commenced, changes cannot be made due to the handmade nature of the artwork.

Step 4: Finished Artwork

Upon completion of your pet portrait,

I will send you an invoice for the remaining balance. You can securely pay the balance online via debit or credit card, PayPal, or bank transfer. Upon receipt of payment, I will ship your completed pet portrait using a reliable carrier, typically Australia Post. If you are local you are more than welcome to collect in person.

Timeline

Kindly allow a minimum of three weeks for the completion of your pet portrait. Each portrait is meticulously handcrafted in a realism style that demands numerous dedicated hours of work. Your patience ensures that we create a truly exceptional and lifelike masterpiece to treasure for a lifetime.

Digital Copies

Each custom pet portrait is a unique, handcrafted artwork made with traditional materials. If you desire extra copies to share with loved ones, your original artwork can be professionally scanned and transformed into a giclée fine art print. The digital file can be saved, shared on social media, or emailed as a delightful image of your pet.

High-resolution digital files of your custom pet portrait are available for an additional $200. Giclée prints are offered in various sizes (prices available upon request). These prints are produced locally by a specialized printer, utilizing the finest quality inks and processes on 100% acid-free, museum-grade, 300gsm textured or smooth cotton rag paper. Each print is personally signed by me, ensuring its authenticity and worth.

If you wish to order additional copies of your pet portrait, kindly inform me before the artwork is completed. This allows me to schedule the professional digital scanning and provide both the original artwork and digital file upon completion.
